Daniel Tyler, Manager of YBS Alnwick branch, enjoys the sights of Lindisfarne on a penny farthing as Yorkshire Building Society embarks on a bike tour with a difference inviting charities to apply for a slice of £150,000 as part of its 150th Anniversary celebrations. A bespoke penny farthing bicycle visited Lindisfarne Castle, Holy Island as it travels to some of the most historic landmarks and destinations in the UK, from Blackpool Tower to London’s Big Ben. The tour is a call to arms for charities across the North East to apply for a £10,000 donation from the fund.

Pony's Pit Stop ..

The grand opening of Beamish Museum's Pit Pony Stables on Saturday (MAR 29). The Beamish pit pony stables are a replica of an existing block which served Rickless drift mine in Gateshead and serve to illustrate the role played by horses in a North East colliery in the years leading up to the First World War.
